Top Rope Climbing and Belaying Lesson: The perfect gateway to climbing independence
As the essential first step in our Climbing Skills Series, this course covers harness safety, rope management, and the fundamentals of top-rope belay techniques.
Why participate? Stop relying on staff or auto-belays! Learning to belay unlocks the freedom to climb with partners anytime, builds deep trust and communication skills, and gives you the foundational safety habits needed to climb confidently on your own terms.
Lead Climbing & Belaying Lesson: Ready to tie into the sharp end?
Take your climbing to the next level by learning the mechanics of lead climbing. This course covers efficient quickdraw clipping, advanced rope management, and dynamic lead belay techniques.
Why participate? Lead climbing is the ultimate mental and physical challenge. Mastering these skills frees you from pre-rigged top ropes, opens up the entire climbing gym (including steep, overhanging walls), and is the essential safety stepping stone for future outdoor sport climbing adventures.
Tykes Rock (Ages 4–8): An exciting, six-week introduction to vertical movement
This experiential course is designed to let young children explore the joy of indoor climbing through structured games, playful challenges, and supportive coaching.
Why participate? Climbing is a natural instinct for kids! Tykes Rock channels that energy into building essential motor skills, spatial awareness, and physical confidence. It’s a fantastic, low-pressure way for your child to learn perseverance and celebrate their personal achievements.
Summit Seekers (Ages 9–13): A dynamic, six-week instructional adventure
In a high-energy, safety-first environment, youth will learn the basic technical skills of indoor climbing, including knot-tying, harness safety, and fundamental movement patterns.
Why participate? At this age, kids crave independence and real challenges. Summit Seekers teaches them genuine technical skills that build personal responsibility, problem-solving abilities, and mental resilience, all while making active, like-minded friends.
Youth Climbing Development & Competition Teams (Ages 10–17): For young athletes serious about taking their climbing further
Our Development Teams offer dedicated youth more structured practice, advanced technique coaching, and exciting opportunities to experience outdoor climbing. For older youth looking to test their limits, our Competitive Climbing Team offers rigorous training to prepare for local and MRU climbing competitions.
Why participate? This is where passion meets progression. Whether your teen wants to transition their skills to real outdoor rock or experience the thrill of athletic competition, our team environment fosters goal-setting, discipline, deep camaraderie, and a lifelong love for the sport.
Outdoor Adventure Trips & Guided Programs: Your bridge from the indoor gym to the great outdoors
Our outdoor programs span from student-led recreational trips to educational courses led by professional guides and certified interpreters. Activity options include day hiking, overnight backpacking, trail running, outdoor rock climbing, and backcountry skiing.

No gear? No problem. Simply check in at the front desk, and our team will get you fully equipped with everything you need to climb safely at no extra cost:
Climbing Shoes: High-friction rubber shoes to help you stick to the holds.
Harnesses: Comfort-fit, professionally inspected safety harnesses.
Belay Devices: Standard tubular devices for top-rope and lead climbing.
Chalk Bags: Filled with premium chalk to keep your grip dry and secure.
Safety and Belay Certifications
To keep our community safe, all climbers who wish to belay must pass a practical safety test. Once passed, your certification will be added directly to your profile.
Top Rope Belay Test: $5.00 (incl. GST)
Verifies proper harness fit, tying a figure-eight follow-through knot, and standard top-rope belay mechanics.
Lead Belay Test: $15.00 (incl. GST)
Verifies advanced rope management, efficient quickdraw clipping, and dynamic lead-fall catching.

Impressive Scale: 40-foot tall climbing structure featuring over 5,000 square feet of diverse climbing terrain with plenty of space to comfortably accommodate 32 active participants at once.
Auto-Belay Friendly: No partner? No problem! We feature four top-rope auto-belay units so you can show up, clip in, and climb solo whenever you like.
Dedicated Bouldering Room: Need to focus on power, technique, or dynamic movements? Train in our separate, specialized bouldering space.
Varied Terrain & Styles: Explore routes designed for all skill levels—from absolute novice to advanced climber—with dedicated, clearly marked walls for both top-rope and lead climbing.

Top Rope Belay Test
In order to successfully complete the top rope belay test, the participant must demonstrate the ability to:
put on an approved climbing harness and attach the rope to the harness using a figure eight follow-through knot
properly set up a belay device on the rope
move rope through the belay device safely and efficiently
perform self and partner checks prior to leaving the ground
use appropriate belayer/climber communication as required
Lead Climbing Test
In order to successfully complete the lead climbing test, the participant must demonstrate the ability to:
clip quickdraws safely and efficiently with both hands
belay a lead climber safely and efficiently
spot the climber to the first quickdraw
maintain an appropriate body position in relation to the rope
Safety is our top priority! To ensure a fun, secure, and supportive environment for everyone, we have established clear access guidelines based on age and experience.
Important Safety Requirements (Under 18)
Waiver & Orientation: All participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present for their safety orientation and the signing of our Youth Climbing Centre Waiver
Supervision Ratio: A maximum of two children/youth (under 13) per supervising adult is strictly enforced
Access & Supervision by Age Group: Find your age bracket below to see how you can climb, belay, and play
Ages 4 – 8: Fun & Discovery
Young climbers can explore the walls with active guidance
Activities: May top-rope climb and boulder
Supervision: Must have direct adult supervision at all times
Belaying: To belay a child in this age group, the supervising adult must have successfully completed our Top Rope Belay Test
Ages 9 – 12: Guided Independence
Youth in this bracket can begin learning the ropes under watchful eyes
Activities: May top-rope climb, top-rope belay, and boulder
Supervision: Active adult supervision is required
Belay Requirements: Both the youth and the supervising adult must have successfully completed our Top Rope Belay Test
Advanced Skills: Rappelling and advanced techniques require direct supervision from both the supervising adult and a Climbing Centre instructor
Ages 13 – 16: Independent Climbers
Teens can enjoy the freedom of climbing with their peers
Activities: May top-rope climb, top-rope belay, and boulder without adult supervision
Belay Requirements: To belay, the teen must have successfully completed our Top Rope Belay Test
Advanced Skills: Rappelling and advanced techniques require direct Climbing Centre instructor supervision
Ages 17+: Unrestricted Access
Welcome to full access to our facility!
Activities: Open access to top-rope climb, top-rope belay, lead climb, lead belay, and boulder
Belay Requirements: To belay, you must have successfully passed our Top Rope or Lead Belay Test
Advanced Skills: Rappelling and advanced techniques require Climbing Centre instructor supervision
