Lifesaving Society: Swim & Lifesaving Instructor

This course will certify the candidate to teach Swim for Life swim lessons, Swim Patrol, Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross and Lifesaving CPR courses.

Prerequisite(s): 15+ years and Bronze Cross or NL (award must be current). Proof of award is required.

Lifesaving instructors are responsible for teaching and evaluating candidates participating in the Canadian Swim Patrol, Bronze Medals, Distinction, Boat Rescue, and Lifesaving CPR Programs.

Prerequisite(s): Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification must be obtained prior to starting this course. Proof of award is required.

Lifesaving Society: Bronze Medallion & CPR C

The course is the prerequisite for Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross. Course content includes CPR Level C and an introduction to the role of a lifesaver.

Lifesaving Society: Bronze Cross & Intermediate (Standard) First Aid Combined Course

Bronze Cross (BC) and Intermediate (Standard) First Aid (IFA) certifications are prerequisites for the National Lifeguard. You can register for the Bronze Cross only, or register for the combined course at a preferred price. Note: Intermediate (Standard) First aid is a prerequisite for Bronze Cross. 

Bronze Cross includes an introduction to safe supervision in aquatics facilities, CPR Level C, lifesaving skills, and assistant lifeguard. It is the third and final level of the Bronze Medal family.

Intermediate (Standard) First Aid includes skill development related to head and spinal injuries, environmental emergencies, sudden medical illness, soft tissue injuries, and poisons. 

You may be certified in either Intermediate (Standard) First Aid, Bronze Cross, or both.

Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of Bronze Medallion (does not need to be current), Intermediate (Standard) First Aid, and Proof of the award is required.

Lifesaving Society: Bronze Cross & Standard First Aid Registration

Lifesaving Society: National Lifeguard

We offer National Lifeguard (NL) and National Lifeguard Re-certifications (NLR). Lifesaving Society NL certification is Canada's professional lifeguard standard. NL training develops a sound understanding of lifeguarding principles, good judgment, and a mature and responsible attitude towards the lifeguard's role. NL training emphasizes prevention and effective rescue response in emergencies including first aid treatment. Candidates develop teamwork, leadership and communication skills. Fitness requirements include a timed object recovery, 50m spring challenge, 50m rescue drill and 400m endurance challenge.

Prerequisite(s): 15+ years, a Bronze Cross award (does not need to be current), and a current Intermediate (Standard) First Aid certification. Proof of age, award, and certification is required at the course. CPR C (received in Bronze Cross) is not equivalent to Intermediate (Standard) First Aid.
