Physical activity has proven benefits for physical health, including improved cardiovascular capacity, muscle strength, range of motion and balance. In addition, physical activity has demonstrated mental and psychosocial benefits. Middle-aged and older adults, in particular, show an improved sense of well-being and decreased anxiety and depressive symptoms with regular exercise. Regular participation in physical activity can also improve self-esteem and self-efficacy.
Starting or maintaining a regular exercise routine can be a challenge at any age, it doesn't get easier as you get older. This 12-week fitness program addresses four components of physical activity, balance, mobility, strength, and endurance. Each 75-minute class includes an instructional warm-up, aerobic/cardiovascular workout, strength and conditioning, balance exercises, stretching, and cool-down in an engaging, safe, fun, and social environment.
