Drop-in Gym Time

We have 3 different options for members to access during our drop in gym times, which are:

  1. Learn 2 Play (L2P) is meant to offer participants the chance to improve their sport-specific skills through facilitated instructional sessions. L2P serves as a physical literacy entry point for participants by allowing them to build their physical competence, knowledge, and understanding of various physical actions in the sport of their choice, allowing them to engage in sport and physical activity with a greater degree of confidence in their abilities. It is hoped that by making participants feel more confident and comfortable in sport and physical activity, they will be more likely to remain active for life.
  2. Drop-In Play (DIP) straddles the line between facilitation and self-direction for physical activity. DIP is meant to provide participants with a zero-commitment opportunity to hone their skills and enjoy themselves in a group setting. These set designated times in which pickup games can occur without interruption. By declaring times for pick up games of a specific sport, they should help to boost motivation of individuals to engage in those sports if they can be confident that there will be enough players for a full game. There are specific times for employees and other user groups, so check out our schedule for more information!
  3. Open Play (OP) is meant to ensure that there are always designated times for participants to come in and access the facilities for self-directed unfacilitated play. Having guaranteed recurring times for play opens an avenue for participants to be active for life in ways that are meaningful for them.
